Who Is Anna Delvey, and Where Is She Now?

Who really is Anna Delvey? Or, should I say Anna Sorokin? The 30-year-old fake German heiress is a pro at conning not only her friends but most of New York City. She is a jack of all trades: She's a Russian immigrant, a New York socialite, a student, an culture and arts entrepreneur, a Rikers Island inmate, a convicted felon, and the inspiration for Netflix's TV series Inventing Anna, plus lots more. Following that will be a deportee in detention.

She subsisted on failed checks and forged wire transfers until 2017, when she was set up and caught at the door to an exclusive recovery center in Malibu, California, on charges of theft and grand larceny. She was sentenced to four to twelve years in jail in 2019 after being found guilty on eight counts. She was freed after only four years on February 11, 2021. That, however, did not endure long. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended her for overstaying her visa.

But, where is she now? She is allegedly being kept in the custody of ICE in upstate New York. For the last year, she has been battling her deportation back to Germany with ICE. It was reported earlier this week that Anna was placed on a plane to Frankfurt and deported to Germany on Monday, March 14, but her attorney, Manny Arora, stated on Tuesday, March 15, that she has filed an appeal to stay her deportation and is still being held in New York.

Alex Cooper, host of the popular podcast, Call Her Daddy, had the opportunity to do a video interview with Anna Sorokin on March 7, 2022. Even though Sorokin is at Rikers Island, she informed cooper that she has a "jail assistant".

“If you have money, you don’t really have to do anything,” Sorokin told Cooper. “They actually think I’m, like, super-rich.”

Sorokin stated that since her arrest, “I have people wanting to adopt me. I don’t have, like, any haters!”

First off, she does have haters... lots of them. But, she is right about one thing: people do want to adopt her. Including, Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend Julia Fox. 33-year-old actress Julia Fox is rumored to have a close friendship with Sorokin, who she said volunteered to adopt her in order to avert her deportation.

"Julia is a great friend of mine and she is really, really fun," Sorokin informed the Daily Mail about Fox. "She always tries to find creative ways to help me. She offered to adopt me. It couldn't happen but it was very sweet of her," Sorokin explained.

Sorokin talked about her time in jail, which she described as "not a stroll in the park." On the podcast, Call Her Daddy, she told Cooper, “No money in the world is worth going to jail — even for a day, I'm just trying to make the best out of the situation I'm dealing with right now. I could have done so many things differently and I would have never seen the inside of the jail. But it just is what it is."

Sorokin's admittance that she regrets parts of her acts may come as a surprise to some, given that she has been admired by followers for her outspoken demeanor. However, she stated in the interview that she does feel some guilt for her acts, but not all. She believes that didn't purposefully try and steal money.

Moral of the story: don’t believe anything Anna Sorokin tells you. She will keep conning her way to the top.
