TikTok is back less than 24 hours after its banning, and the man responsible is America’s Biggest Political Problem

The Tik-Tok Ban has been lifted no less than 24 Hours after its Removal, and we have the internet’s most controversial man to thank for its return.

Inaugurated President Donald J Trump has brought back the country’s most favorable and viral platform mere hours after its deletion. Despite this, some online users have had mixed feelings about hearing the news.

Many are feeling uneasy knowing Trump’s involvement, especially considering his checkered record of having previously attempted to take down the platform back in 2020 after losing his then second Presidential run.

“it’s back. And the Orange demon was the one who started us on this path to Ban TikTok in the first place.” Explains X/Twitter user @EyeKinYouLeeSuh. “It’s all a huge con. “

This is an opinion that seems to be shared by others who claim the sudden lift to be a form of propaganda of sorts. Whether it be for the political right or Trump in general remains unclear. Regardless, many hold cause for concern for not only the platform’s reemergence but also the state of our government, given how quickly their decision turned.

“I still don’t understand how the TikTok ban could pass both the House and Senate, be unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court, and the President-to-be can unilaterally reverse it.”  X/Twitter, @NonGaap

“boycott the [expletive] out of this [expletive]. We knew the TikTok ban was propaganda tool and a way to drive people to use meta apps because the money going into Mark Zucker whatever’s pocket is going directly into Trump’s. The billionaires don’t care about us and they never have.” X/Twitter, @buckIecoded

Regardless of the concerns being shared across the internet, it doesn’t seem to have slowed down the app’s current usage. However, only those who kept the app on their device can access it, as the app itself remains unavailable to download across all app stores until further notice.

Many have previously speculated that the newly discovered ‘RedNote’, a Chinese-owned app, was to be the new home of previous TikTok users and employees. This was a fact so many believed to be true that they took to the app Duolingo to learn Mandarin as a means of using the app. Duolingo records have even shown that there was a 216% increase in their Mandarin lessons, discovered by FastCompany.com. As the state of TikTok remains in development, however, the more likely it is to remain as a backup plan.

Overall, there is some good news about this turn of events despite the controversy behind it. One of the biggest concerns of the TikTok ban was the oncoming wave of unemployment for those who relied on the app for income. Thankfully, for now, while many remained employed, it is not surprising that there are still people who continue to express their concerns about the stability of the app, and whether or not an event like this is to reoccur in the future.
