What Would She Wear? 2025’s Style Icons of the Silver Screen

What Would She Wear? 2025’s Style Icons of the Silver Screen

The New Year; it’s a time for rest and resolution. Out with the old, and in with the new. A time to be reborn in the latest trends and styles. Last year's trashy, becomes this year’s treasure; and thus the hamster wheel that is what we consider fashionable spins on. But, the beauty in this crazy cycle is that everyone is a little bit different. Some girls might cling to their fur coats and ballet flats, while others run out hoping to find cute new moto boots or a killer miniskirt amongst the racks. Now, you’re asking yourself where do I fit in? If you loved chunky jewelry and low rise jeans last year, what can your closet just not live without this year? The answer; a trick as old as time. All you have to do is look to the wisdom of those who have come before us, and what better place to do it than from the comfort of your own living room. Fashion mavens of the Silver Screen have always captivated our hearts, and our closets. Last year we worshiped at the feet of Carrie Bradshaw and Fran Fine, but this year, the tides are bound to turn. So, let’s talk about it.

1. Jenny Humphrey - Gossip Girl

For the girls who like Isabel Marant sneaker wedges, shorty shorts, and studded handbags, look no further for your next fashion muse than Little J from Brooklyn. The hair, the jewelry, all the leather! It’s rockstar fabulous, and a major nod to styles of years past. Imagine yourself out clubbing in a scrunchy bodycon dress, or stomping around the Upper East Side in a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots.

2. Buffy Summers - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Between midterms and supernatural frenemies, Buffy always manages to come out on top, and look great while doing it. High school meets high fashion, and everything that’s good about 90s fast casual. She loves animal print, leather trenches, and lacy tops. Although her go to accessory might be a wooden stake, Buffy is a girl who knows how to majorly accessorize. She rocks skinny chokers, and cool sunglasses with ease. And of course, we’re all familiar with her insane updos, that just scream 90s fashion queen.

3. Samantha Jones - Sex and the City

Don’t worry, if you’re still needing your fix for 90s and noughties New York fabulosity, try Samantha Jones instead. Sexy, and sophisticated, Carrie’s “big sister” would never steer you wrong. Fill your closet with strappy heels, slinky tops, and two piece sets that will take you from hard day to wild night. A step up from what’s been done before, Samantha is class all the way. And she knows exactly how good she looks while sipping Cosmopolitans with her girlfriends.

4. Naomi Clark - 90210

Naomi is the ultimate California Cool Girl. She drives a Mercedes convertible, she lives by the beach, and her hair is always perfectly perky. Even though her life might have been a mess on screen, she certainly never presented as such. Bustier tops, cute little jackets, cork wedges, and lots of drippy statement necklaces. The kind of clothes you’d wear shopping away all of Daddy’s money, or hanging around the Santa Monica Pier after cutting third period English Lit.

5. Rory Gilmore - Gilmore Girls

The littlest Gilmore has big, and fabulous, shoes to fill as the daughter of one of TV’s most beloved mothers of style. While her taste might be a little more understated, it's certainly nothing to turn your nose up at. A little more preppy and soft than her namesake, Rory mixes collegiate coolness with sophisticated grace. She’s the girl in the coffee shop typing away furiously on her laptop, while simultaneously readjusting a yummy mohair scarf. It’s a true East meets West, pairing cozy knits with chunky Doc Martens and miniskirts.
