Gucci Unveiled their New Collection Called HA HA HA, and Harry Styles is a Co-Designer

Let’s talk about something very exciting in the fashion world, the announcement of the Harry Styles x Gucci collaboration! Monday (June 19th) Gucci unveiled the collaboration between Styles and Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, at Milan Fashion Week. The presentation of the collection was held at one of the oldest vintage stores in Milan, called “Cavalli & Nastri”. Michele also mentioned that the collection will be released in stores in Autumn 2022!  Personally, I feel that Harry Styles and Gucci working together on a collection was long overdue, since Harry has worn many looks from the luxury brand.

Before the collection came to life, Harry has worked with Gucci in advertisements, campaigns, his tour outfits, and walked alongside Alessandro Michele at the 2019 Met Gala. According to Vogue.com, it has been stated that Michele and Styles have grown a friendship over a few years, and their love of fashion has brought them closer together. Michele said the collection came up over the phone, where he proposed the idea of a “dream wardrobe” to Styles.

The collection called, HA HA HA, got it’s name from both Harry and Alessandro’s first initials, which I think was super clever since they are the co-designers creating the looks. It was stated to be inspired by the nostalgia of 1970s bohemian fashion. Many of the silhouettes, colors, and patterns are inspired by the eccentric styles that transitioned into clothing from pop icons of that time period. The collection includes double breasted suits with bright colors, tweed trench coats, embellished and textures jackets, and chelsea boots with bright colors or patches. Michele and Styles highlighted their playful styles, with a classic oded to vintage, 70s clothing. I feel it is the perfect way to show the passion they both have for fashion and their tight-knit friendship. Michele included this statement (from an interview with Vogue) about the collection saying: “Ultimately, this collection is a true act of love.”
