Concerts During COVID
With the return of concerts, I’m sure we are all excited to see some of our favorite artists again, but we still have to take some safety precautions due to COVID-19 still spreading rapidly. Many artists cancelled their tours in 2020 because of the pandemic. Because of the possible risks of attending a concert with COVID-19, some artists and venues have restrictions. For popular artists like Harry Styles and Phoebe Bridgers, you must show proof of full vaccination or have received a negative COVID-19 test 48-72 hours before the event takes place.
Today I’m going to my first concert after almost two years of not attending one. I’m seeing Glass Animals. Glass Animals is an indie rock band from Oxford, England. Some of their popular songs include: Heat Waves, I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance), Gooey, and The Other Side Of Paradise. To attend their concert, you must show proof of full vaccination or receive a negative COVID test. Because a lot of people may not have returned to a concert yet, I wanted to give a rundown of how it goes.
When I arrived at the venue, staff were going through and checking negative COVID tests and vaccination cards. You had to show identification that matched the name on your vaccine card. It didn’t take long to get in. There were a lot of people there. The concert was sold out, so the max capacity was fulfilled.
Once I entered into the venue, I grabbed a drink and some food and made my way to the pit with my friends. There was a sign going into the pit that said “Attention Guests: Enter Pit At Your Own Risk.” There were a good amount of people wearing masks throughout the pit and the venue.
The concert was wonderful! After not attending one since 2019, it felt so surreal. I felt safe, and I feel the venue did a great job with their safety precautions. I’m so excited to see some more of my favorite artists soon!
