Best of the Oscars Carpet
Award show season is now in full swing. The Grammys kicked off the season on February 9th, and since then we have seen many iconic red carpet looks. The most recent show that has taken place was the Oscars. Compared to the SAG Awards or the Golden Globes– the Oscars are the most highly anticipated. With Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and many other iconic actors being nominated, it has been highly anticipated for weeks. The one thing that is just as exciting as seeing who the winners are, is the red carpet prior to the show. It seems as each award show comes, the looks just get better and better!
Selena Gomez may have had one of the best looks of the night. Wearing a custom Ralph Lauren gown the singer and actress made everyone's head turn. Especially after finding out the gown is made up of 16,000 glass droplets and Rosemont crystals as Elle reported. The look gives off an Old-Hollywood vibe, but is also inspired by some of Gomez’s past looks as well.
Her Emilia Pèrez costar, Zoe Saldana, also had shown up in a custom gown. This one, a Saint Laurent designed by Anthony Vaccarello. Saldana wore numerous different Saint Laurent looks during the promotional tour for Emilia Pèrez as well as different award shows this season. The sheer black opera gloves ties in with the sheer bust, creating a more cohesive look, and the bubble hem may be revived due to how gorgeous this gown is.
Mikey Madison, the big winner of the night, was in a Dior gown that gave off a Breakfast at Tiffany's vibe, was also wearing a vintage Tiffany & Co necklace from the early 1900’s. Aside from the necklace she is also wearing a bracelet and a ring, on opposite hands, pairing nicely with the necklace but not distracting us from it.
Cynthia Erivo had channeled her inner Elphaba for the Oscars carpet. Although this has been something she has done this entire award season so far, this look is far more bold and extravagant compared to others. This dark green velvet look is a custom Louis Vuitton paired with Roberto Coin jewelry. Erivo always has an incredible set of nails on, this pair done by Mycah Dior, who played an ode to Oz.
Similarly to Erivo, Ariana Grande also channeled her inner Galinda for the Oscars carpet. This look also being her best and most similar to her character this entire season. Her gown is a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture, the structure at her hip, and the flowing tool seems as if she just floated down the carpet in a bubble. The slicked back bun compliments the look, keeping it sleek and elegant.
Demi Moore, the first time Oscar nominee took a classic approach to her red carpet look.Giorgio Armani Prieve had created a custom gown that is crystal embroidered. With the plunging neckline and train adding elements to make it more flattering. Pairing it with chunky earrings and bracelet to keep the look cohesive.
Prior to wearing the red dress for her Bond tribute, Margaret Qualley had stunned the carpet in a black Chanel dress. Sometimes it can be difficult to make a black dress stand out, but due to the puffy sleeves and the low cut back, it created an eye-catching silhouette. Moreover, the silver tassel that hung down her back added a nice touch to the look.
Many people say that men never understand the assignment when it comes to a red carpet look. Colman Domingo definitely understood the assignment. Throughout this entire award season he has worn Valentino, which is what he stuck with for the Oscars. The red shirt matches the jacket perfectly, and the black details of the jacket tie into the trousers and shoes. The jewelry he is wearing is from Bouchern, mixing modern and vintage pieces.
Timothee Chalamet, another man who understood the assignment. The butter yellow leather suit he is wearing was picked out by stylist Taylor McNeill, somebody who he has worked with throughout the entire A Complete Unknown promo tour. This outfit brightens up the carpet in a bold and unique way!
