Is Lana Del Rey Being Sued by Kim Kardashian?

Is Lana Del Rey Being Sued by Kim Kardashian?

Early April 2025, rumors began to spread that singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey was being sued by Kim Kardashian and her line of shapewear, Skims, for not disclosing in an instagram post that the photoshoot was a paid promotion.

These speculations came from January 2024 when Kim Kardashian’s brand, Skims, launched a vintage-inspired Valentine’s Day campaign. Who better to bring this ethereal and glamourous line to the public eye other than the nostalgic queen herself, Lana Del Rey?

The campaign, shot by Nadia Lee Cohen, quickly gained traction with the vibrant colors, heart-shaped aesthetic, and gossamer fabric, perfectly capturing the romantic spirit of Valentine’s Day. Lana went on to post these photos to her instagram captioning, “𝓑𝓪𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓑𝓸𝓾𝓳𝓮𝓮 @skims”.

Now over a year later, the rumors about Kim Kardashian suing Lana Del Rey for $1 million dollars have gained momentum. In response, Del Rey took to the comment section of  Let's Get Into It podcast host Sloan Hooks, writing, “No no, this isn’t happening. Not as far as either one of us know. I don’t know where this started but if it does for some reason have to happen because of guidelines- then we will handle it. But never an end to a friendship.”

Though Lana Del Rey denies these rumors publicly, there may be some truth regarding the issues of ad disclosure. The National Advertising Division (NAD) did investigate the posts in question, and asked Del Rey to provide followers with “greater disclosures” around the Skims promotions by including hashtags such as“#ad”or “#sponsored” to follow advertising guidelines.

So far these rumors are simply that, rumors. No official lawsuit has been filed and nothing has been publicly confirmed. Until there is solid evidence, Lana Del Rey and Kim Kardashian remain friends supporting each other's endeavors and maintaining a solid friendship.
