HAVET On Releasing "Child" and Working With Your Sister
"Child" is an impressive, sleek debut song by HAVET. HAVET consists of two German-Swedish Sisters Mimi and Josy, who together form the exciting new duo. The single “Child” is an ode to your heritage. It is a mesmerizing song that draws upon influences in pop, R&B, folk, and indie styles. HAVET has also released a fantastic video to accompany the single. In conversation with Clique, Mimi and Josy share that their song is about being proud of your roots, your family and all your past experiences, which shaped you into the beautiful human you now are. It’s about finding strength in your heritage and trusting the future because of that.
CLIQUE: Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with Clique. How does it feel to have your debut song “Child” out?
It is an extremely gratifying feeling. We have been working on this for a long long time and we are so glad to finally be able to share our music with the world!
CLIQUE: “Child” is an ode to your heritage. Tell us a little bit more about that.
The song is about being proud of your roots, your family and all your past experiences, which shaped you into the beautiful human you now are. It’s about finding strength in your heritage and trusting the future because of that.
“Working with your sister is amazing. You are never alone, you always have somebody along side of you, going through the same experiences as you are, which is amazing.”
CLIQUE: What is it like to work with your sister?
Working with your sister is amazing. You are never alone, you always have somebody along side of you, going through the same experiences as you are, which is amazing. It can get tough sometimes to not let “work-problems“ interfere with our sister-relationship but overall it has been a blessing.
CLIQUE: Have you guys sang together for as long as you can remember?
Yes! There are tons of videos of us performing songs in our living room and coming up with Melodies with lyrics in a made up language.
CLIQUE: You also have a video out for “Child” what was the process of creating that like?
We came together with a director, a camera man and friends of ours from the Ballett Academy in Berlin. And then we just kind of created this video from scratch! We knew we wanted slow-motion and that we wanted to do a one-take kind of video. Now we have this beautiful video, the dancers really bring the song to live and we are really grateful for everyone who has been involved in the filming-process.
CLIQUE: How much creative control did you have over the video for your song?
Full control! Josy came up with the original draft of the song a few years ago, and we just altered and changed it a bit together with the musicians and producers David Thornton and Klaus Sahm! They always encouraged us to voice the changes we wanted, and we were 100% involved in the making of the song.
CLIQUE: Who are musical inspirations for you?
Artists like The Beatles, David Ceasar, Billie Marten, Billie Eilish and Tyler the Creator have been a huge inspiration for us.
“We usually write our songs separately. Josy usually begins with a melody or a beat and from then on proceeds to produce and develop the song. Mimi has a more old-school approach, normally beginning with lyrics and writing the music with the guitar or a piano.”
CLIQUE: What does the process of making a song look like for the two of you?

CLIQUE: Is there anyone you would love to collaborate with?
We would love to collaborate with James Blake or Ethan Gruska, both being huge inspirations for us!
CLIQUE: What do you have coming up in the future in terms of your music?
We are planning on releasing much more music and playing a few concerts this year and we are extremely excited to see where this journey will take us!
Thank you for having us!
