Gym Anxiety? I've Got You Covered.

Gym Anxiety? I've Got You Covered.

Getting into the gym can be intimidating. There is a lot of equipment with various adjustments that fitness influencers use without a glitch. These videos may show what workouts they are doing on what machines but not how to use them. Entering a gym can feel overwhelming, at least it did for me. I essentially only was confident in using the elliptical and some dumbbell workouts. I wanted to know how to do all the fun exercises I saw online that gave women strikingly toned quads. I wasn't even sure what leg day entailed.

Several gyms produced the same results. I'd be too self-conscious to try to learn the equipment with so many people around. I'd revert to only doing what I was 100% sure I was doing right, the elliptical. Eventually, I'd quit for a few months and then try again.

I realized I needed to do something different if I ever wanted to reach my goals and build structure in my exercise routine. I decided to hire a personal trainer. It was the best decision I could have made for my health goals. At only two sessions a week, 30 minutes each, she gave me the knowledge and confidence I couldn't achieve myself. She provided me with accountability.

Using a personal trainer, I learned what I liked and what I didn't. After the two weeks, I was going to the gym on my own (in addition to the two sessions) and had the knowledge to create my own routines.

Know that it is normal to be intimidated by the gym. There is a lot of noise, equipment, and lots to learn. The best way for me to overcome my gym anxiety was to hire a personal trainer, and there are many that will work with you in terms of payment and time flexibility. Since hiring a personal trainer, I have gone to the gym consistently for six months.

Don't let anxiety stop you from reaching your goals. Every fitness influencer, no matter how experienced, went through a trial of having to learn how everything works. The benefits of frequently exercising surpass our physical bodies. It is proven that consistently exercising creates a major boost in our happiness and overall wellbeing.
